Critical thinking is the process of providing clear, effective support for decisions.
In developing this skill, the teacher should teach how to use the techniques that the students will need such as asking the right questions, use tasks that challenge the students, teach thinking strategies and encourage the curiosity within students.
Creativity and critical thinking works together, in order for students to create something i.e. using their own ideas from experiences or with objects, teachers need to encourage them to be flexible, think of more ideas and expand on them.
Problem solving skills and inquiry is another skill that can develop through critical and creative thinking. This is where the student uses their prior knowledge of asking questions and investigates the answers. After communicating and collaborating, they would produce the right solutions.

  1. Although teachers should teach students to use critical thinking techniques they cannot teach them everything they will use in their lives. They can help them to become aware of and develop tools that will assist them with future decisions.
